Happy belated Easter! We have had a good couple of months since writing last. Once again I've fallen way behind on updating our blog. Every other week to post seemed reasonable not too long ago...now it seems laughable! There are just more demanding things calling for my attention at every moment as I'm sure any mom would know. :)
We have been running all over the place lately because Justin spends much of the spring months presenting Victory at churches to recruit summer staff, encourage campers to attend, and to build relationships with churches. We usually go with him since it's often a full day that he spends working and we already see too little of him in the summer! Speaking of summer, it's fast approaching and we have lots of counselor and other summer staff positions that need filling! If you are a high school to college age person or know someone who is that's interested in a life-changing summer, visit victorymin.org and print our application!
We visited family in Kenai at the beginning of April and had a good trip. We spent Easter with some good friends and the kids enjoyed being able to hunt eggs outside- we actually have breakup this year around a normal time!
We are loving the extra daylight that this time of year in Alaska brings and the girls are getting excited about gardening, playing at the lake, and meeting new counselors. There are always one or two special friends that Evie seems to make among the counselors each summer that she adores and it's fun to see her form those bonds.
AWANA has finished up at church and Sunday School will be wrapping up for the summer shortly. We have about one month of school left and Evie is antsy to be finished. I've been getting pretty creative with activities and games woven in with the textbooks to help her learn without being distracted! Evie will get to do a music camp VBS at church in June that she is excited about. She's got the CD of the musical they will perform and we have been listening to it and learning when we drive the long road to town.
Some ways you can be praying right now:
-Pray that the summer staff will continue to pour in. It's always exciting to see who God will bring to work here.
-Pray that the Outdoor Education Groups who will be attending Victory in May will be able to get up the hiking trails without too much snow blocking the way and that their time here is enjoyable, and points them to our amazing Creator!
-Pray for Sergei, one of the interns here at VBC. He was in an accident and burned his head, face, and arms. He's expected to be in the hospital for a week or so. Pray that his pain is manageable and that he will stay encouraged through his time of recovery.
